DVDs and screeners received: ‘Body of Lies,’ ‘Lullaby,’ ‘Lake City,’ more

I receive more DVDs in the mail than I can possibly ever review, and here I run them down once a week. These are all Region 1, though I’ll note if they’re available in Region 2, too. (And as an aside to all those British DVD publicists out there, I’m totally open to checking out your DVDs, too. Send ’em on.)

It’s also a potentially interesting illustration of the kind of bombardment film critics get from publicists and filmmakers looking to get coverage of their work.

I won’t offer any commentary on possible worthiness. This is information only.

So, this is what piled up in the mail while I was away in London.

DVDs you can buy:

Body of Lies. The Ridley Scott terrorism action drama starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe; I reviewed the theatrical release. [available now; Region 1; preorder in Region 2]

Lullaby. Thriller starring Melissa Leo, nominated this year for an Oscar for Best Actress. [available February 24; Region 1]

Fight Night. Thriller about the underground boxing circuit. [available April 14; Region 1]

Fling. Romantic drama starring new Superman Brandon Routh. [available March 24; Region 1]

Confessions of an Action Star. Mockumentary spoof in the vein of Spinal Tap. [now available; Region 1]

Lake City. Drama starring Sissy Spacek, Troy Garity, Rebecca Romijn, and Dave Matthews. [available March 3; Region 1]

Mulligans. Drama from Dante’s Cove actor/writer Charlie David. [available April 21; Region 1]

Paid. Euro neo-noir thriller starring Tom Conti and Corbin Bernsen. [now available; Region 1]

The Moon and the Stars. WWII romantic thriller starring Jonathan Pryce, Alfred Molina, and Catherine McCormack. [now available; Region 1]

Screeners for the press:

El Tinte de la Fama. Venezuelan drama about Marilyn Monroe lookalikes coming to U.S. theaters in May. [official site]

Leverage. Two-part season finale of the TNT series, which began last night and will conclude on February 24. TNT will also re-air the entire first season leading up to that last episode, beginning at 10am Eastern on the 24th. [official site]

Thicker Than Water: The Vampire Diairies Part I. Indie dark comedy/horror about a family taking care of their vampire daughter. [official site]
