question of the day: What was your favorite moment of last night’s Oscars?

Not the best moment, but an interesting one: Will Smith pretty much cementing "Boom goes the dynamite" as a catchphrase for flubbing one's lines, rather than for an impressive athletic feat, as this guy clearly wants it to be.

Can I list my LEAST favorite moment? The in memoriam part... I couldn't SEE it. Maybe everybody else in America has a bigger TV, but the way they had the image of the one little screen with the three tinier screens floating around it, and then little Queen Latifah wandering around the stage below -- good Lord. Surely Cyd Charisse deserved a little more than 1/5 of the screen during her final farewell... right? Really annoyed and distracted me.

This was true, to a lesser extent, in all of the montages, where they kept zooming into what I think were supposed to represent film reels, showing a few seconds of action, then zooming out and back into another one. Drove me nuts. Way to make me feel like an old fogey when I'm still in my 20's, Academy.

Possibly one of my favorite moments: Kate Winslet's dad whistling.

"Domo Arigato, Mr. Roboto!"

And one more thing: An exciting cross-pollination moment. After Hugh Jackman said good night and we saw clips from 2009 movies to come -- which I thought was a great way to end -- there were scenes from a movie called "An Education," and I thought, is that... it is!! Sally Sparrow!!

Apparently the Academy Award producers think all Americans have a big HD televison. Some things didn't work so well on my little screen, also, what about Danny Boyle's comment-maybe the thing looked better in person that on screen?

Hugh Jackman had high committment and energy at the beginning; I thought he faded about mid show, now sure if it was because they were running behind or what..

Melissa Leo's hair was a HUGE improvement upon her look for the Spirit Awards.

The groups of past winners saluting the current nominees was an excellent touch, and I hope that tradition continues (not only that but it might convince more stars to show up) The women make heartfelt sisterly comments, the guys are bros with jokes. Something for everyone. What is important in that segment, though is to make a good match and make sure people can make it sound natural. There were some that didn't-and some, like Shirley McClaine who was sincere, and appeared to adlib the comment about Hathaways voice. If I had been AH that would have made my night.

I have sympathies for Jen Aniston having to present in those circumstances, but she seemed a little "sedated". She may not be the world's best actress, but she has good comedy chops-not visible last night.

James Bond did not seem impressed with Carrie Bradshaw.

Loved the teasers for next year running over the credits. It would have been even better if Christopher Eccleston had been visible in the "Amelia" clip, though.

This may not be the appropriate forum for this question but MaryAnn why haven't you reviewd 3 of the top 5 box office U.S.? I need a second opinion to resolve an ongoing dispute with my wife.

I agree that Kate Winslet calling out for her father to whistle, and him doing it, was my favorite actual "moment". She's fantastic at being natural anyway, I loved her acceptance. But overall it was a good show, and the former winners speaking to the acting nominees was the best new thing they've ever done. It obviously meant a lot to each of the nominees, you could see they were grateful not to be just left to be also-rans.
