funky site behavior

If you’re coming across a situation like this:

when trying to read the site, just hit refresh and the page should reload properly. (You may need to refresh more than once.)

It seems to be a problem with some of the skyscraper ads in the lefthand column. I’m working on it with the ad service, and hopefully it’ll be fixed soonest.
