question of the day: Who should play Shakespeare?Woo-hoo! Here’s a closeup of part of the painting:
If it looks not unlike our idea of what William Shakespeare probably looked like, it’s because this painting was probably the basis for the engravings made after the playwright’s death that we’re all already familiar with. I gotta say: He was kinda hot. So, based on this new image, who should play the Bard, were there to be a new movie about him? Sure, lots of actors have played the Bard already (I’ve got a DVD of a 1970s miniseries starring Tim Curry as Shakespeare that I’ve been meaning to review), but not many of them have resembled him. I have to say that no one immediately springs to my mind. What do you think? Who should play Shakespeare? (If you have a suggestion for a QOTD, feel free to email me.) Look at those lips! Clearly, in a tribute to the golden age of theatrical crossdressing which Shakespeare was a part of, he should be played by Kat Dennings.
More seriously, maybe I've just had Doctor Who on the brain recently, but doesn't he look a little like Matt Smith?

The eyebrows are seriously reminding me of Alan Cumming.

But... but... I thought he looked like Joseph Fiennes?
Matt Smith? I can't see that at all, but he has got David Tennant's eyes. :-)

I agree about the cross-dressing. Cate Blanchett could pay proper homage to the Bard.

I immediately thought of Hugh Laurie.
