trailer break: ‘The Last House on the Left’
Take a break from work: watch a trailer...
Okay, we joke about trailers that show us the whole movie, but this one just about does show us the entire movie in two minutes and 30 seconds. You really do not need to see the movie if you’ve seen this, and believe me, you will count that a good thing.
I so look forward to the day when remake is a dirty word, and filmmakers without shame enough not to do remakes at least have the modicum of decency required to cover up that fact. That “producer Wes Craven” would proudly put his name on this -- right here in the trailer! -- instead of trying to distance himself from a remake of his own movie, or even fighting to stop it from ever happening in the first place, is a sign of how deeply frakked up the movie industry is at the moment.
The Last House on the Left opens in the U.S. on March 13, and the U.K. on September 4.

The casting offers a few slightly surreal crossover moments: Terminator (Cromartie) vs. Mermaid (Aquamarine).

Jesus, I usually enjoy it when you watch bad movies because we get funny reviews, but there are limits to how much misery I'm willing to wish on you.

I despise this mentality. Movies aren't sacrosanct, and remakes often improve on originals. No one derides the umpteenth version of Hamlet or an Austen novel for "lacking creativity," why is remaking a movie such a blight on cinema-dom? I simply find this whole concept of "hating remakes" beyond wrong-headed.

I've seen the original version of this movie, MaryAnn. I really doubt you would have liked it much better than this version.

Interestingly, the IMDb says that the original Last House on the Left was already itself a remake of The Virgin Spring by Ingmar Bergman. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0844708/trivia
