trailer break: ‘Adventureland’
Take a break from work: watch a trailer...

“Life after college”? I thought this was gonna be a life-after-high school thing. After college, and he’s not even qualified for manual labor?
Now, the summer of 1987 was my first summer after high school, and the summer of 1988 was my first summer after dropping out of college, and it wasn’t that hard to find a decent job. I know -- I was there.
Oh, but I’m reading too much into this: it’s all a joke. You can tell because there’s vomit and defecation references right in the trailer.
I bet there’ll be a pot joke in the actual movie, too. Man, that’d be awesome.
Adventureland opens in the U.S. on April 3, and in the U.K. on July 17.

I think he was only trying to look for a summer job because he needs the money for grad school or something. So that's where the decent job thing comes from. Actually, I think this would have worked well if it was going on right now, instead of 1987, because no one is hiring unless you have experience. I had a tough time finding anything after I graduated from college a few years ago for exactly that reason.

The only thing that made me laugh was the strange couple who ran the amusement park. So it has potential...but the rest of the trailer, I dunno.
We have gawky, looks-younger-than-he-is Nerd Boy Coming Of Age. (sigh, it's almost always a boy.)
We have his first experience with a Woman, and since she barely talked at all in this trailer, I have no idea what she'll be like. My hopes aren't high, because all I can hear looking at her come-hither face in the pool is "vampire!"
We have the group of Freaks and Geeks friends, those outsiders of the carnival, who band together and probably do random shit for laughs.
And of course, we have the requisite Douche Bag, who lives to take Nerd Boy down a few pegs. Is he an enemy? Is he just the Abrasive Friend? Or will he, through his gruff heckling, teach Nerd Boy how to be Nerd MAN?
Wait, ARE we back in the 80s? Because these sound like the plot of a lot of 80s teen movies. :P
Notice how the hairstyles and clothing are indistinguishable from today's. Because 80s is BACK, baby.
