no Dream Cast again this week

The response to my Dream Cast feature has been so lackluster of late that I wonder if everyone is tiring of it. So I feel no compunction whatsoever in skipping it again this week.

If you want to check out the previous installments in the series, you can find them here.

I dunno if the feature will return. We’ll see how I feel about it next week.

I'm not much of a fan, myself -- I've tried to participate a couple times, but I usually give up after a few minutes.

How about replacing it this week (or next) with a blog about Caprica? Have you watched it yet?

I'm pretty sure I sent a suggestion or two (okay, so maybe Coleman Francis films shouldn't get remade), but still and all aren't there still a few good ideas for movies that deserve to be remade with Dream Casts?

You know, movies like:
1) 2001 A Space Odyssey: here we are 2009 and we still haven't found the monolith buried on the moon fer crying out loud. This movie deserves a shot at a remake, with a better calendar year, like 2101.
2) IT! Conquered the World: this time with a bigger turnip monster.
3) Maltese Falcon: with gender role reversals. Samantha Spade stopping the Woman In White and her giggling henchwoman (played by Ellen DeGeneres) from getting away with the stuff dreams are made of.
4) Sense and Sensibility: The animated version, with characters played by fish. Or squirrels. Whichever's cuter to the demographic.

Considering how much stuff *is* remade (not necessarily for the best, and often from B-grade material to start with, um, like "Bewitched"), maybe it's best not to provide the studios with potential fodder...

It's not that there aren't good ideas to talk about, PaulW, it's that not many people seem to want to talk about them!

I have a copy of *Caprica* and will write about it soon.

4) Sense and Sensibility: The animated version, with characters played by fish. Or squirrels. Whichever's cuter to the demographic.

At long last a Jane Austen adaptation we can all believe in...
