trailer break: ‘Dead Snow’

Take a break from work: watch a trailer...

Perhaps the most awesome thing about this trailer is that it’s not in English, and it doesn’t matter one bit. A buncha kids go skiing the mountains where people don’t speak English... but where Nazis once roamed. And now the Nazis are zombies. What more do you need to know?

How did no one come up with Nazi zombies before now?

Oops, no, there is one bit of English here: “Ein... Zwei... Die!” Hilarious. Hollywood horror movies have made English the international language of homicidal violence. And it looks like Norwegian director Tommy Wirkola has been watching old Sam Raimi flicks, too. (Next up for Wirkola: Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. Will Ferrell is producing, so I’m guessing this one will be in English.)

Thanks to David for pointing out this film to me.

Dead Snow opens in the U.S. on June 19; no U.K. release date has been announced.

Um, they kinda did. They were actually underwater Nazi zombies. The movie was called Shock Waves, it starred Peter Cushing (!!!) and Brooke Adams. And even though it had the uber brilliant concept of UNDERWATER NAZI ZOMBIES... the movie sucked like a Uwe Boll production.

And other than what Paul mentions above, they've been around in other, non-televised media for quite a while. Comic books, for instance.

Two things. One is I'm sure it was a total coincidence that guy was wearing a Braindead T-shirt. The other is the bit of english dialogue where the kid imitates Indiana Jones ("fortune and glory, kid"), in much the same way we might "hasta la vista" or something. :)

Never seen Nazi zombies? You've obviously never played Wolfenstein.

Also, Nazi zombies in cinematic form.

That trailer for Outpost actually looks kinda good.
