weekend open thread: dance around the Maypole editionI dunno if my Doctor Who blogging will be done today -- if you don’t see it by 3pm Eastern or so, then look for it tomorrow. I’ll be heading out after that to join my geek posse for our group viewing of Wolverine. Whatcha all up to this weekend? Disqus commentsblog comments powered by Disqus |

Free Comic Book Day today (it's not much, the free comics are pretty much enlarged ads for the ongoing miniseries in the DC/Marvel verses) ;)
Nephew Tommy's birthday at 4 pm. Wolverine with my friends at 7:30 pm. Cats attacking me for not feeding them by 11:30 pm

Ook! Maybe watch "The Wicker Man" (the real version, not Nic Cage in a bear suit...gah, I loathe Nic Cage).

Yeah, it IS Free Comic Book Day. Maybe I'll get some good discounts on something.
Other than that, I'm watching film after film all weekend.

Just been to see "In the Loop". Excellent British farce about the political slide into the Iraq war. Stars James Gandolfini and half set in Washington DC. Jaw droppingly foulmouthed, snarky and funny. Loved it. Hope it makes it to the US.

*fingers, toes and eyes crossed* I, uh, hope to see "Wolverine".
Right now it's Kentucky Derby time at my house. Hubby is switching between the horse racing and golf coverage. *makes note to hide remote from hubby*

If you enjoyed "In The Loop" you might like to check out the BBC TV series "The Thick of It", from which the film is a spin off.

Amusing, I went camping with a bunch of pagans, and there was indeed maypole dancing. I kept thinking of your "that Maypole you erected in the yard ain’t gonna dance around itself" quote and laughing to myself, and then having to explain. B) I missed Free Comic Book Day and Wolverine, but I did get to see hot topless girls dance around a bonfire for two nights in a row, so I can't really complain. *snerk*
