trailer break: ‘The Ugly Truth’Take a break from work: watch a trailer... Oh god, she’s one of those, isn’t she? Background checks before a first date. Assuming something a guy wrote in his online profile is the entire totality of his personality and tastes. Oh god, he’s one of those, isn’t he? Women are fatties, unless they aren’t, which is when he likes them on top. These are not charming people. Ugh. Who writes these movies? Opposites don’t really attract, not in real life. And in the movies, it’s just super, super, super annoying to get saddled with characters like these two, no matter how charming Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler may be onscreen in general, and know that they’re going to fall madly for each other by the end of the movie. Because we never, ever get the followup of a few months later, when they’re ready to kill each other. Ah, it turns out this one is actually written by three women: Nicole Eastman, and the team of Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith, who long ago wrote the delightful Legally Blonde, but more recently are responsible for such tripe as The House Bunny and Ella Enchanted. Ugh. The Ugly Truth opens in the U.S. on July 24 and the U.K. on August 7. Disqus commentsblog comments powered by Disqus |

I saw ALL the trailer for this movie and I love the hilarity and the honesty in the diaglogue, it's a spot-on. Good job to the writers. This movie is a 'must see' for me.

Shelin's comment seems cut and pasted as well, but who knows these days... What I'd really like to know is how much the footsoldiers in a guerilla marketing campaign get paid. Are they paid hourly? Do they get a $10 gift card for every 1000 comments? And what about the people who verify that they're actually doing their job? It's no wonder that people in marketing usually become raging alcoholics.
If you truly think any of this dialogue is hilarious and honest... I... I... just be careful out there, okay?

O', you naysayers!!! I cannot wait to see this movie...I normally avoid raunchy films, but having Gerard Butler in it makes my day. I think they have great chemistry together, and if you look at all the trailers, there are some which show "Mike" with a saddened expression. I have know men like this who put on the facade of being crude and sexual...and once in a while, you find one who's merely playing a part: in reality, he's a nice guy. I'll be looking forward to the salsa dance and side dip...the banter...the sexiness...and the comic timing of Gerard...Did any of you see "Lucy Sullivan Is Getting Married"? (A British tv series in which Butler played a charming gigolo) or"A Young Person's Guide...Rock Star" , a British mini-series? (Butler played a cocky, rock star jerk) He has great timing and he can play any comic role effectively. People who say that rom-coms are too tame, now possibly criticize this one for being too chauvinistic and outre!!! I, for one, will see this movie many times because of Gerard, and I cannot wait for "Gamer" , "Law Abiding Citizen", and even "How to Train Your Dragon"(voice) because Gerard's in them. Give this ,movie a chance, guys!

The studio shills are out,in force. Note how tehy charmingly use, misplaced, puncutation and bad speling to make you think their real!
(I guess we should take from that this movie is aimed at semiliterate morons.)

OK. I've watched the trailer. I think I'm with MaryAnn on this one. Especially since my latest interest only ratchetted up a bit when he saw me NOT in something conventionally sexy but in my (decidedly masculine and actually, if I wasn't female, homoerotic) field gear. This trailer lost me right at the clothes-shopping scene.
