trailer break: ‘In the Loop’Take a break from work: watch a trailer... War? What is it good for? Comedy! I wish that weren’t true. *sigh* In the Loop has come and gone from U.K. cinemas (and is available to preorder on DVD in Region 2); it opens in the U.S. on July 24. And Peter Capaldi in the middle of a cataclysmic event - again!!! Didn't he learn his lesson from the 456 incident...

"I will ... hound you into an assisted suicide!"
Oh, I will USE that!
I must see this film.

That is an absolutely superb trailer. The film itself is probably my favourite of the year so far, but the UK trailer sort of suffers from the fact that many of the funniest lines aren't suitable for advertising. This one gets around the problem much more elegantly.

There's probably a YouTube video to be made from editing some of the peerless Malcolm Tucker obscenities from The Thick of It and In the Loop into footage from Children of Earth.
Actually, it's a tribute to what a fantastic actor Capaldi is that he can create two such iconic, memorable civil servants and you can be completely captivated by one performance without thinking of the other one.

It is opening tonight. I'm going, but I don't know which showing yet. (Lots of work to do before the end of the day.)

Anyone else here going to see it in NYC? I was wondering if there could be a meeting of the local MaryAnn Fan Club after the flick. (I'm assuming that MaryAnn has already seen it -- but if she hasn't...MaryAnn, if you're going, can your fans treat you to a glass of wine after the show?)
