trailer break: ‘The Collector’ redband trailerTake a break from work: watch a trailer... From the writers of Saw XIX or whatever? No, really? Looks like they just recycled the same old torture-porn scripts: Homocidal psychopath with waaaay too much time on his hands sets up an overly elaborate scheme to draw as much terror out of his victims as possible... while also ensuring that the audience gets off on the terror as well. I hope this fad for torture porn is over soon. Anyway, I bet the “twist” is -- there’s gotta be a “twist,” right? -- that the burglar is the killer, and this is just another layer of torture for his victims, letting them think that someone is gonna save them. Cuz, you know, that would like so totally awesome! *sigh* The Collector opens in the U.S. on July 31; no U.K. release date has been announced. Disqus commentsblog comments powered by Disqus |

I get so tired of seeing idiotic comments regarding so-called "torture porn" like yours there, "I hope this fad for torture porn is over soon."
There is a simple solution to your problem: don't go see the film!
Why should they stop making the films for those who enjoy them just because YOU don't like them? Is there someone forcing you to watch them?
I don't like films like Bruno or Harry Potter, but I know there are people that like them, so why should they stop making them just because of little ole me?
It is extremely selfish of people to demand that a certain style or type of film be stopped simply because they don't like them.
Well, I don't like comedies and I am tired of them, they should stop making all comedies.

Fear not, Hurmoth. Even if the fad ends, your precious torture porn will be preserved in this Mylar pouch, forever remaining in near mint condition between Dr. Who and Yasmine Bleeth. Hahaha! I am unbelievably amused. Best... reference joke... ever!

So I'm going to go out on a crazy limb and say this isn't based on the novel of the same name by John Fowles.
