trailer break: ‘Nation’s Pride’

Fooled ya: this is the “trailer” for the fake film-within-the-film in Inglourious Basterds. It’s meant to have been directed by Joseph Goebbels, the Nazi minister for propaganda, but actually it’s directed by Eli Roth, who made the low-budget Cabin Fever and then helped invent torture porn with Hostel.

I love trailers for fake movies -- and I guess Tarantino does too: the fake trailers in Grindhouse were even cleverer than the movies themselves (and the movie were pretty damn clever). All filmmakers who love -- really love -- movies should make fake movies more often.

Nation’s Pride is not a real movie, and will not be opening soon at a theater near you.
