trailer break: ‘Whip It’

Take a break from work: watch a trailer...

Wait, what’s this? A movie full of awesome women? That can’t be right. Who approved this? Did they use up all the women in Hollywood for this one movie? Where will all the other movies find their The Girl or The Wife till all these lovelies have had time to recover?

What’s this? A movie about girls playing a rough contact sport? Girls can’t do that: they might break a nail. And what do they do when they have their periods? Everyone knows girls can’t even do gym when they’re having their periods, never mind roller skate.

Wait a second... This is one of those experimental things, right? Like when people do Shakespeare today but cast all men. That’s gotta be the explanation. They took it so far, they even let girls write and direct this thing.

Whip It sneak-previews in the U.S. on September 26, and opens on October 2; no U.K. release date has been announced yet.
