Uh-oh: it’s another questionable Southern accent. Wah do they do that, d’y’all think?
The sap quotient looks awfully high with this one, except that director John Lee Hancock made The Rookie, which is just about the most perfect baseball movie ever, even if it is ultra-weepy, so maybe this one is worth holding out hope for.
And things can only get better for Sandra Bullock after All About Steve.
The Blind Side opens in the U.S. on November 20; no U.K. release date has been announced.

I don't know. I've wondered about that. To do any other accent, actors will practice at length and take voice lessons if necessary. But for Southern accents and dialect, they feel it's sufficient to just wing it.

Being from Texas, I almost always cringe at how Hollywood portrays us and our state. When it comes to portraying southerners, they should do it the same way they do in movies set in a foreign country, speak English without any strong geographically-based accent.
