the oh-no! DVD of the week: ‘Jenny Takes a Shower’
It’s okay -- it’s artistic:
An artistic video collection featuring Jenny, in nine revealing scenes, as she showers completely nude indoors, and out in the open, on hot summer days.Watch Jenny as she takes her morning shower, wash mud off in her garden, scrub paint off her naked skin, cool off on a hot summer afternoon, as well as being forced to flee outside completely naked, when she hears an intruder, while showering at a friend's house.
100 minutes - Unrated - Contains artistic female nudity.
Look for the other volumes in this artistic series: Jenny Does the Dishes While a Peeping Tom Jerks Off Outside the Kitchen Window, Jenny Takes Out the Garbage and Encounters the Neighborhood Perv, and Jenny Goes Grocery Shopping and Has a Dangerous Liaison with a Cucumber. Remember, it’s art!

She showers completely nude and has naked skin? What is a freaky H2O addict. It must be pretty embarrassing at a restaurant when she suddenly rips off her shirt, dumps a glass of water on her head, and runs out of the front door screaming "I'm being forced to flee!" What a shame that Mary Crane didn't have her supernatural sense of hearing, "shower-sense tingling!".

To some people "artistic" means "not gynocological shots from Hustler"

This reminds me of that awesome Muppets Take Manhattan quote from Janice (paraphrased because it's been years):
"I told him I don't take my clothes off for anyone, even if it is artistic."

Hmmm...This probably won't get much discussion in the below "yet more bullshit “explanations” for why there aren’t more movies about women..." thread.

What? No Jenny Takes a Ride?
Perhaps the producer is too young to remember that song...
So we'll be seeing future videos entitled Christina's World and Las Meninas?

Taken from the one and only amazon review (5 stars!): "What makes all of the Jenny DVDs ie Wash Day, Itchy Dry Skin, Jenny's Fishing Video, etc, so special is that she is a regular girl..." and it ends with: "All in all, a classy production..."
It's also tagged as Art House.

Is this for real ?

well, at least it has more artistic value than about 90% of the stuff that's on modern art museums
the ancient greeks used to do marvel sculptures of naked women and today they're considered high art, so you never know what will happen in the future

You know, honestly, I don't have that much of a problem with folks wanting to watch a hot young blonde shower as their porn fix. Seems downright tame compared to some of the stuff out there. But I find that 'fleeing from the intruder' stuff pretty damn creepy, even in a highly artificial medium like a porno. What's next? The intruder catches her? And then what? Ick. I just don't think that a woman being in danger should EVER be presented as a sexual stimulus....

But, see, the viewer can fantasize about rescuing her...

So why isn't porn "Art"? What is it about sexual arousal that makes it an illegitimate emotion for artists to evoke in the subject matter?
I was going to flesh out that argument, but reading over the sidebar again, I'd skipped the REALLY creepy part. "Wow, an invader entered your house! That's awful! Show me your tits!" is not the train of thought that should be happening in any well-adjusted person's mind, but seems to happen an awful lot in porn.
Which means I answer my own question. "Why isn't porn 'Art'?" The reason is because we respect most art that makes us THINK. We respect jokes that challenge our view of the world, or make us uncomfortable about why we laughed. We respect drama that makes us confront our own moral codes. Porn never challenges, because a challenge spoils the mood. And because of that, porn gives us a lot of bad baggage we never question.

@ Left_Wing_Fox, yeah. That's a great analysis.
And the rape scenario stuff? Yeah, way gross. Funny how the victimization of women is so casual. Yeah, it's a fantasy, but I see this shit so often just brushed off. It's "just" porn, after all.
Oh, but it's also ART. What a brilliant way to make it immune to any sort of criticism!
I'm not going to pretend that I've never seen porn before. But I'm also not going to pretend that it's art or that the majority of it isn't a sexist mess. Somehow, I get the impression the whole "art" thing is just so hipster dudes can feel better about their porn, or if they get caught, they can say "but it's ART!"
ps, Jenny's a "regular girl"? She looks like most every woman I've seen in Girls Gone Wild. I'm not trying to be negative about her body, but "regular" she ain't.
