trailer break: ‘Ninja Assassin’
Take a break from work: watch a trailer...
(more below the ad... scroll down...)
Isn’t that the same remote mountain monastery/martial arts training ground where Batman went to study? Or is it a franchise?
“Raised to become an assassin” made me hope that the next placard would be something like “but he really wants to dance!” But it wasn’t.
Wow. This looks supersupersuper awesome. And by that I mean “dumb.”
Ninja Assassin opens in the U.S. on November 25 and the U.K. on November 27.

MaryAnn, you are aware that the script was written by the great J. Michael Straczynski (he of Babylon 5)?
Of course, how much of his script makes it into the final movie remains of course to be seen, but I'm at least willing to give it a chance based on that fact.

i might check this out. i like that they called it 'ninja assassin'. no beating around the bush. with the title, they just announce to the world that they're here to do one thing - deliver some cool fight scenes. i appreciate the absence of pretense. that knife-on-a-rope thing looks pretty cool. i'm lookin forward to seeing what kind of nonsense battles they come up with.

I would so go see that movie. West Side Story meets Footloose meets Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. I love it.
I might give this one a try on DVD. I too like the no-nonsense name. :)
The "but he really wants to dance!" version would, of course, have to be named "Ninja Dance".

It's grammatically ambiguous! Is he a ninja who is also an assassin, or is he an assassin who targets ninjas? Inquiring minds want to know!

If it's the latter, then that sets up an obvious premise for the sequel: Ninja Assassin Assassin.

If there ends up being a sequel, it would probably err more toward MaryAnn's idea for this one ("but he really wants to dance!") than be about his assassinating people who assassinate ninjas. "Ninja Assassin 2: Electric Boogaloo," they could call it. And a fine boogaloo it would be.

*grin* My sister used to have a computer disc labelled "Ninja Hardball." I was so sad to discover it was two different games.
