They are: Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel (Films I haven’t seen appear in italics.) What will the five nominees for Best Animated Feature Film be? Note that a prediction of which films Oscar will honor with a nomination is not the same thing as choosing which films you think are the best of the year, so if your favorites are different, feel free to share your favorites as well. Geez...were there any animated features that WEREN'T nominated this year? This looks like a T-ball roster -- everyone gets a pat on the back and a cookie.

Look again, Bats- she said those were the eligible movies. So the list would be pretty thorough. Only five will actually be nominated.
The only ones I've seen, I think, were Coraline and Up, but they were both good enough to deserve it.

I'd agree, for sure, with Fantastic Mr. Fox, Up, and Coraline.
But it's also possible that The Princess & the Frog could get in over Cloudy, 9 or Ponyo. I'm not one to underestimate a Disney princess.

Ponyo might not be nominated: the critics were underwhelmed and I don't think it was a huge hit at the box office.
The stop-motion type films like Fox, 9 and Coraline would receive greater consideration than the CGI ones, if only because CGI seems more prevalent.
Up is practically a given. If Up goes for Best Picture overall, would it also get a dual nod in the Animated category?
My personal choices would have to be:
Up (ought to win)
Coraline
Fantastic Mr. Fox
Aliens vs. Monsters
Cloudy with a Chance for Meatballs
Question: are Coraline, Fox, and Cloudy up for Best Adapted Screenplay noms? That would be interesting to see...

Out of that list, I only saw Up, 9, and Coraline. I liked all of them, although I do think Up is a tad overrated.
I'd to see all three of them nominated. I'm not qualified to pick any others, but my guess would be Cloudy(due to its good reviews and public reception) and Mr. Fox. It just looks so unique compared to everything else. I can imagine Ponyo squeezing one of those out, though.
Up will win.
