I am NOT seeing that. I have too many crisp, clear memories of watching movies that Orson Welles was in over and over again. I really think that the only person who could play Welles is Welles. He was such a showman. He was also damn well better looking than the actor playing him there.

So, you can't even be open-minded enough to watch a short film from an actor who has just as much respect for Orson Welles as you do? You're right, no one can play Welles like Welles himself, but, I was careful to use the word "portray" and not imply that Vincent could "replace" Welles, although he comes pretty damn close. If you would watch the clip maybe your opinion would be different, and by the way, Vincent D'Onofrio is a handsome man and is the closest to looking like Welles of any actor I've seen that has portrayed him.

When I have a spare half hour, I will watch the Vincent D'Onofrio film. He's a great actor.

Looking at the trailer, there is NO way I am seeing the movie that is the subject of this thread.

LaSargenta -- i remember when i was about 12 or so, and seeing Orson Welles in "Jane Eyre" and there's the scene in the tower where he's speaking to her about friendship and i thought i would just *melt* his eyes were so intense and he was so... powerful. yum.

@bronxbee... for me the scene was in Citizen Kane where he said "You're right, I did lose a million dollars last year. I expect to lose a million dollars this year. I expect to lose a million dollars *next* year. You know, Mr. Thatcher, at the rate of a million dollars a year, I'll have to close this place in... 60 years." And that smirk on his face...

It's funny you would quote those particular lines from "Citizen Kane", when he was filming "The Third Man" he accepted a straight salary instead of a percentage for which he was very regretful. "The Third Man" went on to be successful at the box office and had he taken a percentage would've made him a wealthier man.

I saw this trailer in a theater where I was literally the only person there who recognized Zac Efron - because I'm 20 and no one else in the whole theater was under 60. I kept bracing myself for the fangirl squealing, and it didn't come. Amazing.

I sooo want to see this, if nothing else for the incorporation of Welles' "Caesar"...

And I second the recommendation of "Five Minutes..." I saw it at Cinequest a couple years (or so) ago and it was fantastic.

I haven't seen it, but according to IMDB Burton was unhappy with D'Onofrio in Ed Wood and had his voice dubbed by someone else. Makes me upset for D'Onofrio, who I love as an actor.

You're right, Pollas, Vincent was very unhappy with his performance in "Ed Wood" explaining that Burton hired him too late giving him only 3 weeks to prepare for the role. "Five Minutes, Mr. Welles" is Vincent's own desire to redeem himself from that performance. Take the time to watch it, it is remarkable.

I know I should be rooting for the kid, but it's Orson Welles!
