watch it: “Children in Need 2009: Doctor Who: The End Of Time preview”

Spoilers for David Tennant’s upcoming finale episodes, and -- in my commentary below -- for “The Waters of Mars”:

It looks like the Doctor has taken a little time to recover from the nightmare of “Waters of Mars” (I’ll write about that soon; tomorrow, I hope) by going to someplace and getting lei’d. And laid, too: “Got married! That was a mistake. Good Queen Bess. And let me tell you, her nickname is no longer, er, anyway...”

The Doctor fucked Queen Elizabeth, no more the “virgin queen.”

And then he left her.

No wonder she was so mad at him at the end of “The Shakespeare Code.”

Russell Davies, you are... too much.

I love the Ood priest, too.

Oh, and go to www.bbc.co.uk/pudsey to donate to Children in Need, why don’t you?

Yeah, the "Good Queen Bess" stuff was a *bit* much...

Love the way that his "Funny" bit exactly mirrored the Master's words (just before he gassed the Cabinet).

Wait, if the Doctor married Regina Elizabeth Prima... who hosted the bachelor party?

...oh no...

12-part fanfic stories later:

Captain Jack: "Okay, so maybe I shouldn't have left all the traffic cones back in Venice... of 1497..."

I'm trying to decide: Cate Blanchett (as per this macro) or Miranda Richardson. Hmm.

Poor, crazy Doctor.

What's wrong with the Helen Mirren version?

Hey, I just realized, didn't Romana II play Elizabeth in a direct to ABC version of The Prince and the Pauper?

What's wrong with the Helen Mirren version?

Probably nothing, apart from I haven't seen it.

this preview gave me the shivers... and it was disturbing how The Doctor quoted the master!

haha Miranda Richardson's Queen for sure

Perhaps, with the "locked it" joke, RTD has finally realised how thin his sense of humour is wearing. But probably not; there seem to be enough people actually liking it (even the odious comic relief in Planet of the Dead)...

I think he was just taking the piss - he says it himself - try and make a Ood laugh

Quite a shift in mood from the end of Waters of Mars to the CiN preview, isn't it?

"Mmm... you're quite the funny man. And yet I think, laughing on purpose... at the darkness."

Sums him up fairly well at times like these, doesn't it?

I think the whole locking the TARDIS was meant to be funny in a sick way because The Doctor is now acting like (and quoting) The Master. The whole "It's funny. No? A little bit?" is exactly what The Master says when he gases parliament.

yeah Mo he's scared

Just saw waters of mars (aired free to air in Australia tonight) so i came looking for your review and i can't find it!?!?! I'm a bit shocked....
