because Teh Gay is catching

The trailer for Valentine’s Day hides the fact that Bradley Cooper is portraying a gay character. In fact, the trailer goes out of its way to imply that Cooper and Julia Roberts are gettin’ it on.

Or perhaps it’s because someone thinks that girls don’t want to see OMG-megahottie Cooper as someone playing for the other team.

This has been your WTF Thought for the Day.

And if you watch the trailer for A Single Man casually, you might think it's a love story between Julianne Moore and Colin Firth.

Marketers really make me laugh. What are they thinking, that you can fool some homophobe into going to A Single Man and they will wind up loving your product in spite of their prejudices?

This just proves what I've suspected for most of this decade: the trailer-making industry is rapidly diverging from the film-making industry. Trailermakers care whether or not you like the trailer, because if you don't like it, you won't pay to see the movie.

Filmmakers don't care if you like the movie, more often than not, because by the time you find out whether you like it, they already have your money. Exceptions to this trend exist, of course, but they are growing more rare.

Hollywood is anti-gay? Oh puleeease, everyone knows that a cabal of gay commie feminist vegetarian liberal jews runs the entire entertainment industry.. including the media... and most of the internet. Life was so much better back in the fictional 1950's when girls were girls and men were men, when gay people and illegals and atheists didn't exist, and a nickel would buy you a steak and kidney pie, a cup of coffee, a slice of cheesecake and a newsreel - with enough change left over to ride the trolley from Battery Park to the polo grounds.

Um, Love Actually called, and they want their script back. I just read the plot between the two gay characters on Jezebel, and now I think Queer as Folk wants its ideas back too.

Cooper? Megahottie? Huh. Well, different strokes, as they say. I think he has Date Rapist face myself. Happy New Year, everyone!
