the oh-no! DVD of the week: ‘101 Reasons Not to Be a Pro Wrestler’

Wrestling site High Spots tells us what this one is all about:

101 Reasons Not to be a Pro Wrestler is by far the most talked about pro wrestling movie since Beyond the Mat. Wrestling fans always want to know what pro wrestler really think about being fired, being held down, the creative process, ribs, mixed martial arts, setting up a match, backyard wrestling, forming a union, the monopoly of the pro wrestling industry, drugs and Vince McMahon.

101 Reasons Not to be a Pro Wrestler is a 3 hour long documentary filled with the biggest names in pro wrestling today such as New Jack, Vampiro, Diamond Dallas Page, Tylene Buck, Predator from Zero-One and MMA fame,Joanie Laurer (formerly known as Chyna), Psichosis, Nozawa, Babi Slymm,Sean O'Haire,Fatu (formerly known as Rikishi), Konnan and more...

Much of what the wrestlers have to say is shocking and surprising, so get ready to hear the truth about the pro wrestling industry directly from some of the biggest names in the wrestling industry today.

I, for one, know that I’ve been dying to hear what someone named Psichosis thinks about the creative process. I wouldn’t have thought that there was a “creative” process inherent in, ahem, a sport, but what do I know?

Some of the 101 reasons not to be a pro wrestler:

No. 5: The insurance copays are a bitch.
No. 47: It’s getting harder to find sweat-flavored body oil.
No. 73: Spandex is really itchy!

What do you think are the other 98 reasons?

The other 98 reasons are that it's a good way to die young. Wrestling is a fuck-awful industry full of drug use, suicides, shady business dealings, cutthroat inter-office politics, medical problems, lifelong debilitating injuries, and death by misadventure. I know lots of kids who still watch pro wrestling and hold these guys up as gods and heroes and aspire to be pro wrestlers themselves someday, so quite frankly, I don't think it's much of a laughing matter.

They're a bit more open about wrestling being choreographed nowadays, they even stopped writing autobiographies in character.

And, as a rasslin' fan, most of these guys were useless and are probably just settling scores with the organizations that didn't want them in the first place. New Jack, Konnan, and Fatu are especially egregious in burning every bridge they had. It'll more like 101 Reasons These People Are Not On Your Television Anymore.

Also, I've never met the fabled wrestling fan who thinks it's a genuine sport. I like you a lot MAJ, why don't you let that low-hanging fruit of a joke alone. >_>
