why didn’t someone tell me there’s gonna be another Muppet movie?
I was just surfing around, minding my own business, when I accidentally stumbled across a post at The Film Stage (a site I’d never even heard of before) entited “New Muppet Movie Details Emerge.” And I’m all like, What? How is it possible that I’ve never ever heard about a new Muppet movie? I figured the Muppets had moved to YouTube for good. But The Film Stage pointed me toward the scoop at the movies-and-music blog The Playlist (which I’d also never heard of before), where details emerge: Written by Jason Segel ("Forgetting Sarah Marshall," TV's "Freaks and Geeks," "How I Met Your Mother") and Nicholas Stoller (dir. "Forgetting Sarah Marshall"), the script has been previously known as "The Cheapest Muppet Movie Ever Made," but the film, and script — that's evidently somewhat hard to get your hands on — is actually now called, "The Greatest Muppet Movie of All Time." (The Playlist’s secret informer then goes on to offer his critique of this plot. It’s worth a read. Me? I think it sounds a bit too much like It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie, but then I suppose that makes this new movie traditional, no?) Why is all this being kept hush-hush? I don’t mean the plot of the movie, I mean the movie itself? Obviously there’s been quite a bit of chatter about this, so how did I not hear about it? Sheesh. This has been your OMG Thought for the Day. Disqus commentsblog comments powered by Disqus |

I'm guessing your true preference was The Further Adventures of Brisco County, Jr., and Kermit but for legal reasons, such a project just fell through...

Now there's an OMG thought: Bruce Campbell and the Muppets, together again for the very first time? I would die.

I just recently heard about this as well. From Weird Al's twitter feed of all places. He liked the movie back when it was called UHF. The plot does have similarities.
I haven't been truly happy with any of the recent Muppet movies with the exception of Muppet Christmas Carol and Muppets from Space. I'm a die hard Henson fan and I'll keep seeing the movies. But the Muppets without Jim just seem to be missing something.
