trailer break: ‘Stolen’Take a break from work: watch a trailer... “Gimme back my son!” Oh, wait, that was a different movie. Anyway: Jon Hamm and Josh Lucas in the same movie? And they’re both all, like, angsty and shit? OMG! Depending on how good this is, it could be the beginnng of what I predicted, that thing about grownup movies moving to the on-demand home market and just avoiding the multiplexes altogether, since Hollywood seems to have given over theatrical releases to kid stuff. Or maybe not. The star power onscreen is there, but director Anders Anderson and screenwriter Glenn Taranto have no prior feature credits. I think this thing needs big names on both sides of the camera for it to qualify as a deliberate Fuck You to the studio system. I’d be happy to be wrong about that, of course. Stolen debuts on demand on March 3, and opens theatrically in New York on March 12 and in Los Angeles on March 19; no Canadian or U.K. release dates have been announced.
