I don’t think I’ve ever seen this Disney movie... or if I have, I have no memory of it whatsoever.
The thing is, maybe, that I was a little kid in the dark ages before home video. I would have had to see this in a theater during a rerelease -- if it ever was rereleased -- or it would have had to air during the Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday nights on ABC. And I don’t remember either. And by the time home video came along, I was old enough that this would have been low on my must-see list... and it never really climbed any higher.
Alice in Wonderland is available on DVD in Region 1 from Amazon.com and from Amazon.ca and in Region 2 from Amazon U.K.

The Tim Burton version has caused me to wonder about an incredibly geeky issue: is the Tim Burton movie supposed to co-exist with the original Alice In Wonderland in Disney "canon"? For example, could we see a crossover between the two (if they decided to make another Kingdom Hearts sequel, for example)? I know it's a silly question, but to my knowledge, this is the first Disney "property" with both an animated and a live action adaptation...

I would love to know why you have been "psyched" to see the new Alice, but have not yet graced us with a review... :(

Lack of time, and bullshit caused by the Cablevision/ABC thing. My review is coming shortly.

Not the first. There's "101 Dalmatians," as well.
Also, the two "Alice"s really don't match up, either stylistically or from a continuity basis , so I'd be surprised if it was incorporated into Kingdom Hearts.

Never felt much need to see the old Disney version of Alice in Wonderland myself, until I saw this. Then I had to see the original, just to try and figure out where all the clips for that video came from.

I never saw this in the theatre or on home video before but I could swear I saw it in grade school at one of those class sessions in which they showed old cartoons like "Donald Duck in Mathemagic Land" and an occasional live-action Disney nature film. I definitely remember reading the book around the same time but I have no definite memory of what happened in the flick after the exit of Bill the Lizard--perhaps because that part of my memory was erased to make room for the details of a more recent Disney movie...
And Victor, the song in that clip isn't really my cup of tea but I have to admit it shows more originality than yet another shout-out to "White Rabbit" or for that matter, "All the Young Girls Love Alice."
Well, the movie isn't available on Netflix at this moment so I get to decide whether I should seek it out at the local indy video store, wait for it to turn up at one of the few libraries in my area that carry it or spend twenty bucks for a memory refreshment copy. Decisions, decisions.

Victor: Thanks for the Pogo link. I'm not a huge fan of trance music, but the remix culture fascinates me, and these are really enjoyable!
