the oh-no! DVD of the week: ‘Forks: Bitten by Twilight’
It’s oh-no for its obvious cashing-in cheapness, of course, seeing as how this is a quickie, direct-to-DVD stroll around the Pacific Northwest town where the Twilight movies are set (though they’re not filmed there): Step into Forks, where Twilight comes to life! But there’s an extra layer of head-smacking money-grubbing goodness here. Notice the garish blurb on the cover art: “the controversial documentary about Forks, Washington.” The only thing “controversial” about this DVD -- unless it actually takes a side in the Team Edward/Team Jacob dispute, which seems unlikely -- is that Summit Entertainment sued the makers over the original cover art, which came too close to aping its trademarked Twilight logo. In fact, it probably looked too much like this:
Apparently the Summit suit (TMZ has what few details are available) has entirely scared off Forks: Bitten by Twilight, because if you search Amazon.com on that title, the only thing that pops up is Summit’s official money-grubbing cashing-in documentary about Forks, Twilight in Forks: Saga of the Real Town. Gah. It's particularly ridiculous cashing in, when you consider Stephenie Meyer never even visited Forks as part of her research (apparently, she says, she's writing fantasy and even though it's set in a real place that means no research is required. Double gah).

Just saw you had to remove the dvd cover from the review. You could always put in its place your hand-drawn interpretation of the cover (a sparkly vampire puking his guts out, perhaps).

"dvd cover art"! you've got to be kidding... a photo of a red pickup truck outside a generic wood sided building? art? well, i find that highly amusing in the first place, and in the second place... don't all books, dvds and cds, etc., get displayed with their cover art when they are being sold? i mean, i've never seen an ad for a dvd where it said "we'll show you the cover art when you buy the product."
what a world.

Draw a big picture of a sparkling penis and write the DVD title beneath it. It's not their artwork, so they can't possibly complain!
