fresh faces? in what universe?Gotta love the IMDB’s Fresh Faces gallery, which features headshots of young actors hoping to break in: Every single of one them looks like someone who’s already famous. There’s nothing fresh about them, which was totally obvious today, when the site’s “Born Today” celeb, Sarah Jessica Parker, was pictured just above today’s “Fresh Face,” Kindall Kolins:
I mean nothing disparaging of either Parker or Kolins, but come on: Kolins could well be Parker’s little sister, or daughter, they look so much alike. What’s “fresh” about that? Gabourey Sidibe has a fresh face. Jay Baruchel has a fresh face. What’s fresh about new faces that look exactly like the old faces? Disqus commentsblog comments powered by Disqus |

After this post, you need to find a way to see last night's South Park.

Funny - I was watching a couple of episodes of 'Castle' this week and every suspect or witness they had seemed almost like someone famous. Like they were putting out casting calls for people that looked and spoke like a particular star for these bit parts.
I don't live in the US anymore and don't watch that many US TV series so I have to ask - is that common now? Instead of hiring someone for a small part that has a unique look they purposely seek people who are look alikes to more well known actors?

I think the only people who are getting any work as actors in Hollywood are limited to those with a particular look. The environment seems to self-select out those who don't look like that. So it's not that casting directors are only casting people who look like people who are already famous, it's that agents are only taking on people they think they can sell with a line like, "She's the new Sarah Jessica Parker!"

My family first saw him as the co-host of "Popular Mechanics for Kids," so every time I see him in a movie I half-expect him to turn to the audience and explain how some natural phenomenon or cool gizmo works...

If SJP and Cameron Diaz could somehow have a child together, that's what she would look like.
Yes. With Elisha Cuthbert. Name me another time 100% of the tween hosts of a Canadian educational TV series have broken into Hollywood. It's so weird.
