bias update: March 29

obsession: Canadian TV (and film) (because I’m hungry for something new and good)

boyfriend: Jack Davenport in FlashForward (because he’s just basically the most perfect man ever)

psyched: Matt Smith’s debut as the Doctor (though I’m dreading it a little, too, like I haven’t since Tom Baker regenerated into Peter Davison... and I was already in love with Peter Davison)

girl crush: Noomi Rapace in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, who rocks like few woman on film have rocked before

dreading: Death at a Funeral (because not only is it pointless to remake the brilliant 2007 film, but this looks superbad all on its own)

enemy: everyone involved with Hot Tub Time Machine (and especially producer-star John Cusack, for being a guy and not being a man)

I hope that this helps ease the transition.

And ditto for Jack Davenport, he is brilliant. He was one of my top choices for the next Doctor.

Add one more for Jack Davenport on FlashForward. And in general.

Cusack has been my enemy ever since I read what he did to Savage Steve Holland on night before filming began on One Crazy Summer.

Cusack has been my enemy ever since I read what he did to Savage Steve Holland on night before filming began on One Crazy Summer.

What did he do? I tried searching, but I can't seem to find anything. My google-fu is weak. :(

^ oh me too I heard that they don't talk but I don't know why. Doesn't Vampires in Venice look good!

I'm afraid that Jack Davenport played Miles too well in this life so I just can't stand the guy.

Fluked into seeing the 11th Dr's first adventure this week and I think he'll be great. No Tennant but already I'm liking him better than Eccleston!!

Matt Smith and Karen Gillan in New York

MaryAnn, please go and report back?

Basically, Cusack and Holland were really good friends while making Better Off Dead, so much so that Cusack was even in the editing room watching the movie being put together.

The night before filming was to begin on OCS, Holland showed the finished cut of Better Off Dead to the cast and crew. Cusack walked out of the screening 20 into it and when SSH asked him about it the next day, he said "You know, you tricked me. Better Off Dead was the worst thing I have ever seen. I will never trust you as a director ever again, so don’t speak to me."

So BOD was his second starring role, he was friends withn the director and he saw how it was coming together before that moment. He decided that the best time to talk about his dissatisfaction was the night before he started working on the new movie with that same director.

Oh, and this little gem has come out during his recent interviews for HTTM:

Q. If you had to choose between the films of John Hughes or the films of Savage Steve Holland, which would you go with?

CUSACK I was only in one of the John Hughes films, and I never saw the other ones. I didn’t understand them. I kept hearing a really hip 40-year-old person talking in teenagers’ mouths. And I was in two movies with Steve Holland. So I don’t think I would choose. I don’t think I would have an opinion.
