Matt Smith in New YorkI’m working on my “The Beast Below” blogging as we speak. While you wait, please enjoy this missive from my pal Cahir O’Doherty, the arts editor at New York’s Irish Voice/IrishCentral.com, which came in via email earlier tonight: I was with a friend going to see a show on Broadway this afternoon and we were talking about “The Beast Below.” I was impressed by Matt Smith's performance (I loved his little flourish when he put the glass of water on the ground the first time). It’s the most Doctory gesture I’ve seen him make so far and I was telling my friend I was really really enjoying Smith’s performance in the new series. Cahir’s photo:
Cahir followed up his email with this: He was genuinely surprised that we’d already seen “The Eleventh Hour” and “The Beast Below” and I told him almost every true Who fan in America already has. He said: “Well there’s some terrific stuff to come, just wait...” Disqus commentsblog comments powered by Disqus |

Ha! That is the funniest, coolest thing I've heard all day.
And it says alot about how much my opinion of him has changed in the last couple of weeks that I'm actually kind of really jealous.

I am officially envious. Why doesn't the Doctor ever come to Australia?!

Wow! Cahir-- Be careful, when the Universe starts bring you and the Doctor together, there must be some reason that will only become clear later in the season!

Cahir, like me, will be attending the BBC America screening and Q&A on Wednesday... strictly in a professional capacity, of course. Neither of us is a huge *Doctor Who* dork or anything -- not at all. And Matt Smith will be *there,* too, so the two of them will be together *again.*
Maybe the Village East theater will be attacked by Daleks or Weeping Angels, or Rose will show up, shot through a dimensional canon, looking for the Doctor's help.
If you don't hear from me again after Wednesday evening, it's cuz I'm either dead or have flown off with the Doctor.

Of the two, we'd certainly hope for the latter, even if we'd miss your film reviews. B)

Wow, I'm really jealous right now :). And I was in the city on Sunday, though nowhere near 45th Street. Probably the closest I'll ever get to the Doctor.
