trailer break: ‘Just Wright’Take a break from work: watch a trailer... Remember, ladies: Do not be your regular self if you want to catch a man. If you do, how will he be able to bitch later that you’ve “changed”? It would be nice is this movie were actually about a woman who doesn’t play games winning out in the romance game over the one who does. In fact, since I feel like I’ve now seen the whole movie just by watching this trailer, I think it’s safe to say that that’s exactly what this is. At least Queen Latifah is usually worth watching, even in totally predictable crap. Just Wright opens in the U.S. and Canada on May 14; no U.K. release date has been announced. I watched the trailer a few times... I thought Queen Latifah's character remained steady throughout. I didn't think she compromised to get the guy... I thought the trailer was trying to show that romance just happened between them because they spent time in each other's company. I mean the movie could be nothing like that...

The movie can be about a woman who doesn't compromise and still be totally predictable crap. If the trailer is, in fact, showing us pretty much the whole movie, then it is, in fact, totally predictable crap.

Oh that's fine, I mean I totally think it's going to be predictable crap :D I just thought Queen Latifah's character was non-typical.

Pam Grier and Queen Latifah in a movie together and the subject of the movie about getting a man. The movie gods cannot possibly not know who Pam Grier is.
The number of armies of bad guys she single-handedly slaughtered in the 70's is epic. This is decades before Hit-Girl and just shy of a decade before Ripley fought the Aliens and Sarah Connor took on the Terminator series.
Is the movie making machine this lazy or are they insidiously trying to dumb us down to the point that we no longer question authority?
BTW-The Denzel Washington reference is so old. Can we find someone new and young and hot? Also not buying Common as a romantic lead. He has done some good work in other movies but here he just seems kind of stiff.

Quentin Tarantino obviously knows who Pam Grier is. I never thought I'd hear myself say this but maybe he should start making romantic comedies. Or better yet, a musical! (Hey, as long as I'm that far off-base, I may as well aim for the fences...)
