As is typical with Disney films, embedding of this trailer is disabled for the domestic version by the U.S. arm of Disney... but Disney U.K. is, for some bizarre reason, happy to have site owners like me give the film free advertising.
So:
Jerry Bruckheimer and videogame movies: made for each other.
The mythical sands of time are hidden within a sacred dagger? Where? In the hilt?
I guess the height of the film’s humor is going to be Jake stammering over whether a woman is beautiful. The wit! The charm! The yes this is aimed at 12-year-old boys who are terrified of girls!
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time opens in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. on May 28.

Even with all his other roles, I still can't see Jake Gyllenhaal without thinking "it's the Bubble Boy!"

Hi, I'm a femme who's actually played the game. Yes, the sands are contained in the hilt of the dagger, but only as much as you can carry. You're always having to refill the darn thing. ;]
And yes, the immature Prince getting flustered by the Princess is straight from the game as well. In fact, most of the game involves the Princess being badass and making the Prince feel insecure, and them trading lots of entertaining banter. From what I've heard, that's actually the highlight of this movie as well, so I think I'll enjoy it just fine. :]

Man I hate Jerry Bruckheimer. Man I love Jake Gyllenhall.
I guess that's the end of Jake doing any more indie movie work (The Good Girl, Brokeback Mountain). Now he is in the hands of cheeseball Bruckheimer. I won't be seeing this movie.
Jake, even though you are obscured by all that CGI and those terrible hair extensions when the camera finally gets around to giving you a close-up I can see your beauty in those gorgeous eyes.
Goodbye my love.

Jake Gyllenhall, not Persian.
Gemma Aterton, non Indian.
Avatar, the last Air Bender...Wizard of Earthsea, 21, Stuck...more whitewashing of Hollywood.
Irritating.

Yet another video-game-based movie that looks considerably less fun than just playing the damn game.

@equustel
Yeah, it's nice how she's not a "damsel in distress" but actually a helpful (and bad-ass) companion that saves you as often as she needs saving. That, the story, and the dialogue (which gets better, that bit is early on when he's caught off guard) were all excellent for a video game.
For a movie? Honestly, this looks terrible. Sky Captain tried to get by on witty banter between the hero and heroine with the rest filled in with bland CG, and it stunk too.
I think Brian nailed it.
@t6
The whitewashing of Prince of Persia... Or is it the Persianwashing of Jake Gyllenhall? Think about it.
Hmm...
Never mind, that's dumb.

Nah nnvee--this is just jake's "beach house payment movie" in between indie flicks and what not. You'll get your boy back...
Just don't see this movie b/c it's going to be godawful...I'd say it can't suck b/c Ben Kingsley's in it but the man also did 'Sound of Thunder' and 'BloodRayne.'
And PoP is a great game, with better acting than you see in plenty of mainstream films.

Yeah, this has disaster written all over it. A cheesy popcorn romp is a huge step up from a theme park ride, but a huge step down from one of the game industry's crown jewels.
I mean, seriously, when people talk about a game being "art", Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is one of those games that gets brought up as worthy of consideration.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is an obvious game adaptation. It is directed by Mike Newell, the respected director of Harry Potter and Goblet of Fire, Four Weddings and A Funeral, Mona Lisa Smile, Donnie Brasco, Love in the Time of Cholera, and he is not afraid of using fine quality CGI effects and creating strong action scenes. This entertaining video game adaptation with its interesting story is written by Boaz Yakin, a successful and indie writer who stunned the audience with his Fresh and The Punisher and the co-writer is Doug Miro we know from The Uninvited and The Great Raid.
