classic ‘Doctor Who’ blogging to begin momentarily...I’ve been threatening it for a while, and now the moment is upon us: I’m about to start blogging about the original Doctor Who series in the same way I’ve been doing so for the rebooted series: in-depth, unbelievable geeky, and deeply love-fest-y. But since I’m gonna be jumping around the 26-year history of the original series, I thought I’d give you a heads-up on what’s to come, so you can acquire DVDs of the episodes to watch/rewatch, if you like. So here’s the schedule for the first batch: May 22: The Movie (Paul McGann) / buy at Amazon [U.K.] (available only in Region 2) (My Doctor Who guide will also keep a tally of upcoming classic blogging.) You’ll note that those are all the regeneration episodes currently available. Sylvester McCoy’s first episode, “Time and the Rani,” will be released in Region 2 in September, and I’ll catch up with that one then. Patrick Troughton’s first story, “The Power of the Daleks,” is -- like, alas, many of his stories -- lost to history. There is a “reconstructed” version of the story on CD-ROM, which combines the soundtrack, which still exists intact, with whatever video is left plus stills from the production. It’s out of print, but used copies are available [Amazon U.S] [Amazon U.K.], though they’re really expensive. Email me if you’ve got a copy you’re willing to lend me for a little while. I’ve got another Doctor Who project in the works, too, which I hope to get started on this summer. I don’t wanna say too much at this point, but I will tell you that I’ve registered a new domain in conjunction with this project: doctorwhocommentaries.com. Coincidentally, I just finished watching "Power..." (I've emailed you as well.) It's a great story - best use of the Daleks since their first story. Seems appropriate with Matt being very Pat-like...

You're intentionally going to watch "The Twin Dilemna"??? Better get your Tom Servo and Crow bots to sit next to you while you suffer through it...
I see you're trying to cover all the regeneration episodes, but they're not always the definitive episodes regarding the Doctor's development of his altering personalities.

Look, I'm going to stick my neck out and champion the minority on this one - imho, Colin Baker was a fantastic doctor, but was not best served by the material he had to work with and was badly let down by the management of the BBC. Check out some of his Big Finish audios to see the possibilities of what could have been and then tell me he's a bad doctor.
Now although the Twin Dilemma can never be accused of being brilliant or a classic, I do not think it merits the reputation for worst Doctor Who story - I think it's actually quite fun, and has got some good performances from some supporting players - Kevin Mcnally and Maurice Denham, as well as Colin. Ok, the twins are not brilliant, but they're not fatal to the story. The science may be ropey, but I thought the botched psycho regeneration was a bold choice, especially following Davidson.
It was the biggest misfortune for this episode to follow The Caves of Androzani a week straight after.
If I had to give a worst prize - it would go to Warriors of the Deep, which most people agree is pretty bad. One story though which is very popular, but I absolutely hated has to be The Curse of Fenric - I just cannot bring myself to like that story no matter how many times I watch it.

Just watched the movie yesterday and just finished the first episode of Castrovalva. I'll save most of my comments for the specific threads but I just have to say the Movie wasn't as bad as I remembered it being back when it originally aired. Other than that Enjoy! I know I did.
