...suddenly not what Hollywood wants?
Yes, it’s The Week in Women, my regular column over at the Alliance of Women Film Journalists.
Well, it was my regular column: this is the last one. As part of my professional reorganization, I’ll be putting that aside. Enjoy it this one final time...

Thank you for sharing these columns with us. I've learned by reading them.

Wait a minute!! No more AWFJ Week in Women? Wow, that sucks.
I am so bummed, MAJ. I can only hope that you'll be incorporating something like it into flickfilosopher? Yes? Please?

I'll probably just make more regular note of some of the issues that TWIW covered here, in shorter posts. I'll probably just call it "Hollywood Hates Women." :->

"This will be my last Week in Women column."
Nooo! I loved these! Oh, well, I know you'll still bring light to these issues over here.

Yeah, put me down as someone who will be sorry to see that column go. I do hope you keep some of that up over here. Those were some of my favorite posts of yours (and, incidentally, some of the ones I was most likely to share on Google Reader and the like).

I really loved this column. It's so enlightening (and harrowing) to see how women are treated by Hollywood. (Not that this isn't evident from the shit movies that are produced, but your column managed to elegantly discuss the problems at hand.)

Thanks for all the kind words. I'm glad to hear that some of you, at least, were enjoying the column. I'm sure similar material will continue to appear here. It's just that for the work for the AWFJ, I was not being paid, and I felt I'd donated more than enough effort. It seemed like the right time to pull that back here (where at least it might draw some new readers *here,* as well as bring in a bit of ad revenue) when I'm in the process of revamping everything else anyway.

But, yeah, you need to get paid.
Is that a symptom of an aspect of what you wrote about in TWIW that when you write about it, it has to be for free? I think so.
Hmmm.

Well, AWFJ doesn't pay anybody, so it's not that. But it's true that you don't see a lot of mainstream coverage of feminist issues.
