wtf: acting is “kind of gay” sez ‘A-Team’s Rampage

The makers of this movie failed the moment they decided not to cast Mr. T as BA. If they asked Mr. T and he refused for some reason (too busy making Warcraft commercials, or coding up the Night Elf Mohawk class?), then they should have just shit-canned the movie.

Isn't Rampage a mixed martial arts competitor? And we're surprised that a guy who makes his living beating people up has issues?

I'm not sure guys like Rampage can afford to grow up, since it would take away the drive to dominant opponents needed in violent competition. I remember really enjoying Tae Kwon Do in high school and college, but when I tried boxing for a year recently (in my late thirties) I just didn't have much in the way of desire to hit things very hard.

Of course, my political opinions haven't changed very much over the course of 20 years, shifting as they do along a liberal to liberatarian line, so these two issues don't always align.

Weird. I seem to remember reading some movie blog post somewhere, along with some blurry photos from early in production, claiming that Quentin Jackson was the nicest guy the writer had ever met. Sadly, i can't remember which movie blog it was.

That's a really odd statement to make since he himself makes a living acting. Is this double standard?

This guy has been an actor all of ten minutes and he's already kicking people off of the set. In the A-Team trailers I've seen him in he has zero the charisma of Mr. T.

Nice system they have in Hollywood: No one will bat an eye at this guy's antics because he's a man who demeans gays but Megan Fox must be annihilated for questioning her misogynist director. Just as no one batted an eye when Mike Tyson shows up in The Hangover because he's a man and he RAPES girls. NICE.

Quinton Jackson is a 32-year-old man. That's way too old for a high school state of mind to fly as an excuse (if it ever was to begin with). At this age it's just willfully hateful.

But I do wonder how many people never really left high school maturity wise. Maturity is usually forced upon people by life, not something people go looking for. If a person is rewarded by life for who they are at a certain age, that's when they probably stop growing up, which would explain why Rampage is stuck in high school and Michael Jackson was always a child star in his mind and Bush II never stopped being a college chearleader.

And, you know what? If it’s “gay” to put a fucking coat on when it’s cold, then I’m sure Quinton “Rampage” Jackson could very well stand out in the damn cold without a coat, if he’s that insecure in his manhood, whether his manhood be straight, gay, or otherwise.

I disagree with this entirely. The main reason people fight is for competition. It's happened several times when a fighter will enter the fight in an overly aggressive manner and get tooled because they're not thinking straight. No one with anger issues would make it far in professional fighting.

Rampage was out of line here. He's given up an opportunity to make more movies - who's going to work with him? Oh well, he's not that good an actor. I'd rather see him keep training and fighting good fights.

I'll be sure to let Mike Tyson know what you think of his mental health. But it is true that personal issues can interfere with the discipline involved with training so I concede that I over-generalized.

One of the reasons, perhaps the primary one, I started studying soft style martial arts instead of just hard style is that I realized as long as I only knew kicking and punching, there were guys out there who could kick my ass just because they were more willing to hurt me than I was them.
