trailer break: ‘Megamind’

Take a break from work: watch a trailer...

So, it’s to be Despicable Me meets The Incredibles, then? I can take it.

Sucks, I suppose, to be the second movie of the year about an idea that probably seemed wildly original when it was in conceived only to be thrown back in your face when you learn that someone else had a really, really similar idea probably around the same time you did. D’oh!

Director Tom McGrath is a vet of Madagascar and Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa: here’s hoping Megamind is more like the former, which was sweet and clever and funny, and less like the latter, which was amusing but superfluous.

Gotta say: I wonder if Brad Pitt was the best choice for the square-jawed hero. I like him a lot as an actor, but his voice isn’t all that distinctive. Maybe that’s gonna be part of the point...

Megamind opens in the U.S. and Canada on November 5, and in the U.K. on December 3.

"Dr. Horrible is heeeere!"

At least, that was my first thought. Maybe I'm wrong.

megamind reminds me of gallaxhar from monsters vs. aliens.

Your Brad Pitt comment makes me think of Matt Damon in Titan A.E., aka "Space Ferngully".

Yeah, I got a distinctly Dr. Horrible vibe too.

Sooo... it seems to me like they wanted to do a movie with the villian from Monsters vs. Aliens (Gallaxhar?), but 1) couldn't get Rainn Wilson back and 2) didn't want to animate tentacles for a whole movie.

I was all meh and then I was ehhh but then they did the bit with the spider.

"The spider is new." Yes it is. I might actually like this spoof.

Damn, Jurgan beat me to it... Still, for good measure:

("Mwahahahaha." The evil laugh is very important)

I really liked the trailer. Please let me know the release date of the movie?

Looked to me that they were trying a little too hard, but it might be fun regardless.

I really don't like this trailer. The only gag I like is "You too, Random Citizen!"

Robert Downey Jr. dropped out of the Will Ferrell role. Hate to say it, but I think it might be because Robert Downey Jr. cares more about the quality of voice-over work than Will Ferrell (Curious George), Brad Pitt (Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas), and Tina Fey (love her, but her movies...).
