Here's my chime: I miss seeing the "recent comments" on the home page. Unless there is a new post, it's what I look at first on the site. Having it on the sidebar also requires a lot of scrolling and the wrapping makes it harder to read.
Also, the New In Theaters, Box Office, etc. is something I only look at about once a week, but with current placement it has to be scrolled past on just about every visit.

I found the listing of the last posts to be very usefull on the front page. Certainly moreso than the current movie releases. Just noticed they are on the side when you are in a post which is cool but I think they should get front page billing as well.

I miss the at-a-glance red-light/green-light reviews along the side. it's helpful not only for movies you haven't reviewed yet, but also to see what reviews I may have missed if I've been gone a while.

Fixed that commenting sidebar on the subpages so that it's not so busy but still gives you all the info you need.
The front page needs a lot of work. I agree that the recent comments listing does need to be there. (Though you can always bookmark this page as your entry page if you need to keep up with comments.)
Ideally the new front page will be more magazine-y, rather than bloggy, if I can make that work. But I will also offer an alternative blog-style listing of latest posts, for those who prefer that.
I do think that stuff on the front page needs to be highlighting the meatier content over the quickie posts (without letting the quickie posts get lost). It remains to be seen if this is doable with the current software.

MAJ - can I suggest links to "previous" and "next" posts we can use to navigate once we've clicked through on a post? Now, if I'm reading on my phone, where I can't have multiple tabs open on my browser, I have to continually go back to the main page, scroll to the next item, and click through. Being able to click a link to the next post would be a major help.

I think it looks great overall. It's nice that you have a dedicated page for your extended bio. (I'm curious: what did you write for Archaeology magazine?)
I like that the "recent comments" can now be seen on every page. I did prefer it when I could see the most recent commenter's name and the first few words of the post--rather than just the number of comments--to keep track of who's joined the conversation. But I understand that it also made the column hard to read. What do you think of having the comments as a large box at the bottom of the page rather than the side, so you can include the beginning text of the most recent comments but still avoid wraparound?

I agree with those saying they like the comments on the front page. Besides new reviews, that's the first thing I check.
To be perfectly honest, I liked it just the way it was. I just think the commenting needs to be improved. An edit button would be great, as well as other options. Heck, I'd love a full blown FF message board, but that's probably not doable.

I'll get the comments back there. But one of the things I also want to highlight -- and keep highlighted -- are the reviews, which are, of course, the primary content here.
Like I said, the tweaking is ongoing. I'll figure it out and find a look that pisses off as few readers as possible. :->

I'm happy if the page loads faster. And to be honest it was the advert that was the main culprit there. So we all know what we need to do....
