So, Joaquin Phoenix chucks his acting career in favor of one as a rapper. And Casey Affleck is there to document it. Or is it all a fake?
I wonder if anyone still cares at this point. Or perhaps the “is it real, or isn’t it?” question will intrigue enough people to make this an arthouse hit.
It’ll be interesting to see... both the film and the reaction to it.
I’m Still Here opens in limited release in the U.S. and Canada on September 10, and in the U.K. on September 17.

Haven't heard any of the backstory - a link would be nice - but after the recent batch supernatural "true stories" I don't think there can be a filmgoer in the English-speaking world who believes that an actor is anything but an actor.

This is not intended as an insult.
I had no idea one could grow such a sweet, unbroken mustache over a harelip scar.

As an admirer of Phoenix's acting, I sure hope the whole thing is an elaborate pice of performance art and he'll be back brooding sexily on screen again soon.

I'd read that Phoenix does not have a (repaired) harelip, although it certainly seems like he does. Maybe the well-grown mustache means he doesn't have one. (An unfortunate accident, like Harrison Ford's chin scar?)
I don't know what to believe as to his current activities. I'd like to think it is performance art. Either way, UK Guardian has a pretty damning article on him as a not-so-good actor, even-worse musician.
