trailer break: ‘Life as We Know It’

Here’s a new low in the depiction of women onscreen: If you dare to remain single and childless, you will be punished by having both a man and a baby forced upon you. And not just any man: the most obnoxious kind of jerk, someone you never want to see again.

And here’s the worst thing: You will learn to love your new life. It’s secretly what you wanted all along. See, it’s a good thing when friends name you -- along with a man you can’t stand -- the guardian of their child without even asking your permission.

Serious question: When does “high concept” become a high crime?

Life as We Know It opens in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. on October 8.

This is "high concept?"

The Heigl curse continues...

People who say "when you have a child of your own, you'll understand" never seem to appreciate that having your entire personality changed might not be something that you want. (With a side order of "I had to put up with this, so I don't want you getting away with having a life.")

This is "high concept?"

It's a perfect example of high concept. (The "high" is not synonymous with "noble" or "clever.") It means a concept that can be boiled down to one simple sentence: "A man and a woman who can't stand each other are forced together when they inherit a baby."

So tease us with the awesomeness that is Christina Hendricks... kill her off... then leave us with Katherine Heigl for the rest of the movie? There's so many FAIL in that statement I don't even know...

I'd like to see Katherine Heigl in a character-driven drama... or at least a good movie, and I'm not betting on this one being good. I mean, Heigl and Duhamel?! Ugh!

From the moment I saw the still from the video with Katherine Heigl in that hat, I knew we'd be in for something offensive. I didn't recognize her, but that hat is a bad rom-com hat.

But seriously, damn. "I had free time". "To do what, bake more?" Charming.

Oh, and then the idea at the end that the biological parents knew the godparents would grow to be better people and love each other. What bullshit. That was a huge gamble they were making, and are you really going to take a chance like that with the welfare of your kids?
