if you saw the Account Suspended warning earlier this afternoon......that was a result -- I think -- of what I was talking about yesterday, about how I’m at the limits of my technical expertise in running this site. I’m in the process of working, behind the scenes, on improving the home page, which may be the reason why the server this site resides on suddenly spiked in RAM usage, which triggered a suspension of the site. Something in the Movable Type code I was fooling around with was wonky, perhaps, or some issue with accessing the database went awry. I simply don’t know. Which is becoming a bigger and bigger problem as traffic on this site grows (as it has been growing, dramatically, over the past year). In addition to significantly higher hosting charges -- to cover the extra bandwidth -- I simply cannot cope with the technical stuff... unless all I want to do anymore is learn the technical stuff so I can cope with it. Which would be pointless, since this site needs me to create the content that keeps everyone coming back. I know it’s supposed to be a good thing, a happy thing, when you become a victim of your own success. But I can tell you, it sure doesn’t feel good. FlickFilosopher.com gets lots of great traffic from an enthusiastic community of readers, but not enough to generate significant ad revenue -- just enough to become a major technical pain in the ass. I really need to be able to offload the technical work. And to do that, I need many many more readers to subscribe to the site at just $1 per month (which you can pay in any currency from almost anywhere in the world). Subscription/donation links after the jump. Detailed explanation of what this is all about is here. Thank you.
Subscriptions are set to run monthly until you cancel. I hope you’ll let it run for at least 12 months. Or, make a one-time donation of at least $12/£10/whatever the equivalent is in your currency: Donate via PayPal any amount (in almost any currency): (Sorry, I can’t accept donations via Amazon Payments. That’s Amazon’s restriction, not mine.) And since readers asked for more options, here are a few. If you want more options, just let me know and I shall oblige:
