‘Doctor Who’ thing of the day: hilarious icons for all your avatar needs

Fan artist Red Scharlach has created an impressive collection of Doctor Who-themed icons available for your amusement and deployment at her site, the elegantly named Red Scharlach. Have a look.

Oh, did I mention that I think maybe the Scharlach were the alien baddies in that one Tom Baker episode? Or am I thinking of Count Scarlioni? Anyway, Red Scharlach the site could be a trap: it certainly will suck away a lot of your time. (And don’t even bother to look at her quite comical fan fiction, taking down the clichés of fan fiction, unless you have nothing else to do for a while.)

A few of my favorite of Scharlach’s icons:

There’s hundreds of them, from new Who and the classic series. Even the Peter Cushing movies. Even Rowan Atkinson’s “Curse of Fatal Death” Doctor! (And more from Torchwood and Sarah Jane Adventures. And Sherlock, which we’re going to have to accept as Who adjacent, and yes, I will review that soon.) It’s an amazing collection, and enormously entertaining to look at even if you never actually use any of them as icons or avatars.

A few more of my favorites:

And that’s barely even scratched the surface.

(Thanks to reader Liz for the link. If you stumble across a cool Doctor Who thing, feel free to email me with a link.)
