trailer break: ‘Jackass 3D’

Why? Why do we celebrate idiocy like this? Dangerous idiocy, at that. It’s not even pretend. It’s not “just a movie.” It’s morons doing stupid, risky things because other people find it amusing. Why do people find it amusing? Would it be amusing if Johnny Knoxville was actually maimed or killed in one of the stunts? Would he still be some sort of imbecile hero then? What does it say about us that audiences need to be explicitly told not to replicate what they see on the screen?

I really wonder about us...

Jackass 3D opens in the U.S. and Canada on October 15, and the U.K. on November 5.
