yesterday I was mistaken for a local...

I was meandering my way from Victoria Station to the Soho Screening Rooms yesterday when I was stopped near Picadilly Circus by tourists hauling luggage who wondered if I could help them find their hotel. And I could! I had to use Google Maps with GPS on my iPhone, but still... I was able to help them.

I love being mistaken for a local. It’s happened to me before in London, too, on previous visits here. Usually it just takes not standing around on a corner looking lost and dressing in some way that does not include tourist-y T-shirts and the like. Still, it feels good. In this instance, it made me feel a little more at home.
