question of the weekend: Have you ever been in an earthquake?I was riveted yesterday by the video and still photographs coming out of Japan after the massive earthquake and tsunami: the power of the planet to shrug us off like insects has rarely been so powerfully demonstrated. I’ve never experienced anything like that. The closest I came was when I slept through a very minor earthquake on Long Island back in the mid 1980s: it was only when I went to school the next day and everyone was talking about it that I realized anything had happened. And I think I’d like to keep that as my closest brush with earthquakes. What about you? Have you ever been in an earthquake? What was it like? (Also, feel free to engage in general discussion about the Japan disaster.) (If you have a suggestion for a QOTD/QOTW, feel free to email me.
