watch it: 1980s Pillsbury microwave cake commercial

Had to swap out the video that was supposed to be here because YouTube pulled it. Now, enjoy some terrible microwave cake, instead.

My commentary on the original ad, for a 1970s microwave over from Montgomery Ward, follows. It kinda doesn’t make sense without the video. Oh well:

Hey, look! Men were idiots in the kitchen as far back as the 1970s. How on earth did any of them survive before marriage? Foraging in dumpsters? Of course, this ad comes from people who think dinosaurs and humans coexisted, so perhaps they’re bringing that same sharp intelligence to their understanding of the capabilities of the adult human man.
