question of the day: What’s your favorite non-English-language film?

Today’s question comes from John, who wants to know:

What’s your favorite non-English-language film?

And I’ll amend that to add: Do you have different criteria for judging foreign-language films than you do for English-language films? (Like, perhaps it needs to give some extra oomph to make up for the distraction of having to read subtitles.)

Mine would be tricky to choose. It might be a Studio Ghibli flim such as Spirited Away or My Neighbor Totoro... although I have actually only seen those dubbed into English.

You?
