Brave (teaser trailer)

Disney showed us this teaser before my screening of Cars 2 last Sunday morning (I’m not allowed to talk about that film till July 18), and I knew absolutely nothing about Brave prior to that moment. The rep mentioned the title of the film we’d see a trailer for before the lights went down, and I assumed it was referring to a young Native American warrior, and I thought, Well, that’s cool: we definitely need more Native American stories up on the big screen.

And then I heard the accent of the narrator’s voice, and saw that circle of standing stones... and even though we’ve had more than a few Scottish stories up on the big screen, I do confess that a frisson of chills swept over me.

And then... that mane of red curls falls out of the hood! A girl heroine! In a Disney movie! And she’s not a princess!

It turns out, though, that she is a princess. She’s just not a pink princess.

Small steps...

Brave opens the U.S. and Canada on June 22, 2012, and in the U.K. on August 17, 2012.
