Christopher Eccleston reveals why he left ‘Doctor Who,’ why he makes all those awful Hollywood movies, and why he’s going to kick Rupert Murdoch’s ass
I wasn’t going to post this, because it’s not really anything new, just more details expanding on what Eccleston has said in the past. But reader innpchan requested it, so here it is. The podcast Bad Wilf offers a transcript of Eccleston’s comments at a an acting master class at the Theatre Royal Haymarket. I left Doctor Who because I could not get along with the senior people. I left because of politics. I did not see eye to eye with them. I didn’t agree with the way things were being run. I didn’t like the culture that had grown up around the series.... (Click over to Bad Wilf for more.) Frost Magazine appears to have attended the same event, offering the same comments in an “exclusive,” so I assume that the following also came out of that class, though Frost doesn’t say so: Eccleston also revealed that he should have resisted making Gone in 60 Seconds and that he would have made more money on British TV. He also called GI Joe a “terrible movie.” The star added that he only makes bad movies in Hollywood for the money and would never “shit on his own doorstep.” And this is just too juicy (also from Frost): Christopher Eccleston said today (Wednesday) that he found out he was hacked yesterday and plans to sue Rupert Murdoch. Eccleston added he was looking forward to sticking the boot into Murdoch. Kick his ass, Eccleston. Bad Wilf link via Dan’s Media Digest. Disqus commentsblog comments powered by Disqus |
