Unlawful Killing (trailer)It’s the Diana conspiracy flick! With a new trailer released on what would have been her 50th birthday! Run in circles, scream and shout! From a press release: The [trailer] sets out to discredit many of the misconceptions that have surrounded the film prior to and since its screening at the Cannes Film Festival. The film made its Industry debut at the world’s most famous film festival in May, but was hitting the headlines internationally well before the film had even been screened. Allen explained at the Guardian back in May what the “banned in the UK” thing means: Why is the film being premiered next week at Cannes, three years after the inquest ended? Because British lawyers insisted on 87 cuts before any UK release could be contemplated. So rather than butcher the film, or risk legal action, we're showing it in France, then the US, and everywhere except the UK. Pity, because at a time when the mindless sugar rush of the royal wedding has been sending British Republicans into a diabetic coma, it could act as a welcome antidote. I’m dying to see this to learn whether it is indeed as level-headed as Allen insists (in other sections of the Guardian piece) that it is, or whether it really is just another bit of conspiracy nonsense. Guess I’ll have to sneak a DVD in from some other country eventually. Unlawful Killing is not yet scheduled for release anywhere in the world; it will receive its world premiere screening at the Galway Film Fleadh on Wednesday July 6th.
