‘Doctor Who’ thing of the day: What does the Doctor’s bedroom look like? (a contest at SFX, and a fantasy in your head)

Remember in “The Doctor’s Wife” when Rory asked the Doctor where he slept? Well that’s what we want to know – or rather we want to see. Because today we’re launching an SFX competition to draw what you think the Doctor’s bedroom looks like!

That’s right, the winning entry, plus all the best runners-up, will be published in a future SFX magazine, in full glorious colour (erm… unless you send us a really good one in black and white, of course). We want you to imagine what the Time Lord’s sleeping quarters could possibly look like. Will there be Da Vinci paintings on the walls? Will there be amazing gadgets from the 54th century? What else could be in there? Will there even be a bed?!

Well, of course there’d be a bed! It wouldn’t be a bedroom otherwise. We know he sleeps: we’ve seen him sleeping. I’ve always imagined, though, that the Doctor doesn’t need a lot of sleep. But beds can be used for activities other than sleeping, of course. That’s why I imagine, er, lots of books piled up around his bed. As well as a general level of sumptuous luxury: the bed would be huge, the pillows fluffy and copious, etc.

You do have to draw your idea, however. If you’d rather not, consider this the place to paint your notion of the Doctor’s bedroom with words.
