Planet of the Apes (retro trailer)

I thought this would be a nice reminder of the past now that Rise of the Planet of the Apes is upon us.

“Beyond your wildest dreams.” Could that really have been true? Was this so shocking a concept that it was beyond the imagination of movie audiences? It’s funny to think that would work even as advertising hyperbole, but perhaps some science-fictional ideas were not as widespread as they are today. Certainly, Charlton Heston being held captive by intelligent apes is now not only a not-very-radical idea, it’s downright cliché.
